چکیده
Obesity has been identified as a serious health concern in domestic cats. Feline mammary cancer (FMC) is also concern, it highly prevalent and aggressive. Considering the connection between obesity breast cancer, worthwhile to investigate potential obesity–cancer relationship FMC. Associations between adipokines and obesity-related cancer.
There is increasing evidence that obesity may have pathophysiological effects that extend beyond its well-known co-morbidities; in particular its role in cancer has received considerable epidemiological support. As adipose tissue becomes strongly established as an endocrine organ, two of its most abundant and most investigated adipokines, leptin and adiponectin, are also taken beyond their trad...
متن کاملAdipocyte lipolysis links obesity to breast cancer growth: adipocyte-derived fatty acids drive breast cancer cell proliferation and migration
BACKGROUND Obesity is associated with increased recurrence and reduced survival of breast cancer. Adipocytes constitute a significant component of breast tissue, yet their role in provisioning metabolic substrates to support breast cancer progression is poorly understood. RESULTS Here, we show that co-culture of breast cancer cells with adipocytes revealed cancer cell-stimulated depletion of ...
متن کاملPolychlorinated Biphenyl-77 Induces Adipocyte Differentiation and Proinflammatory Adipokines and Promotes Obesity and Atherosclerosis
BACKGROUND Obesity, an inflammatory condition linked to cardiovascular disease, is associated with expansion of adipose tissue. Highly prevalent coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) such as 3,3',4,4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl (PCB-77) accumulate in adipose tissue because of their lipophilicity and increase with obesity. However, the effects of PCBs on adipocytes, obesity, and obesity-associated ...
متن کاملAdipose tissue, obesity and adipokines: role in cancer promotion.
Adipose tissue is a complex organ with endocrine, metabolic and immune regulatory roles. Adipose depots have been characterized to release several adipocytokines that work locally in an autocrine and paracrine fashion or peripherally in an endocrine fashion. Adipocyte hypertrophy and excessive adipose tissue accumulation, as occurs during obesity, dysregulates the microenvironment within adipos...
متن کاملObesity and prostate cancer: a role for adipokines.
OBJECTIVES Many studies have investigated the association between obesity and prostate cancer risk but have yielded inconsistent results. Recent evidence suggests a particular role for obesity in prostate cancer progression. Many studies have investigated the roles of adipose tissue-derived factors (adipokines) as putative molecular mediators between obesity and prostate cancer. This review pro...
